Silver's exception While all the other cations you will come across at level two will form a hydroxide when reacted with NaOH, silver does not. When silver reacts with hydroxide, the precipitate formed is Silver Oxide (Ag2O). Silver reacts with hydroxide according to the following equation: 2Ag+(aq) + 2OH-(aq) —> Ag2O(s) + H2O(l) |
